POSTNATAL DOULA:
A Post Natal Doula (or sometimes referred to as a Post Partum Doula) provides evidence-based information when helping you with your emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and help with feeding and basic newborn care.
The main goal of a Post Natal Doula is to help “mother the mother”, to nurture the family through the transition of life with a new baby. This would look like: educating on family adjustment, providing support to the needs of the new mother to helping her and her partner gain confidence in their roles.
Did you know? Post Natal Doulas can help assist you with settling your baby, help assist you to recognise your baby’s cues and help with everyday tasks.
Duties include breastfeeding support, help with physical and emotional support during your recovery after birth, assistance with newborn care (bathing, feeding and comforting), baby soothing techniques, referrals to local resources (e.g. parenting classes, lactation support).

I provide Post Natal support to families for up to 8 weeks post birth. Support can be several hours over a few weeks or a few hours spread over several weeks - I strive to cater for each individuals needs.
