e169b882-db37-4dc0-bf55-9924bbe59df1.jpg

Pregnancy is such a special time in a women's life but unfortunately it can bring unwanted aches and pains. Based in Milford, on Auckland's North Shore, Sarah specialises in pregnancy and postpartum care. Many women believe pregnancy aches and pains are 'just part of pregnancy', but Sarah works closely with expectant mothers and their midwives and/or obstetricians to make pregnancy as comfortable as possible. Common aches and pains include; headaches, neck pain, back pain, reflux, lower back pain, rib pain, insomnia, sciatica, SPD/Pelvic pain, hip pain, constipation, restless legs syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome and muscles strains. During pregnancy the body undergoes a large number of physical and hormonal changes including; posture, weight bearing etc which can cause strains on surrounding joints, muscles and ligaments. Treatment is safe and effective at any stage of pregnancy. Every treatment is tailored to the patients individual needs. Sarah also specialises in treating women postpartum, supporting the body return to its 'new version of normal' and adapting to motherhood. Often aches and pains can arise relating to breastfeeding, lifting your new baby and the pram, car seat etc. Sarah helps women adapt to these new tasks and gives tailored advice on how to do these tasks without pain.

MEET: Alisha - FlOURISH MATERNITY

https://flourishmaternity.co.nz

Hi, I’m Alisha Harper, the owner of Flourish Maternity.

I am proud mum to my two beautiful children Bailey & Nate and wife to my lovely man Bevan.

IMG_3300-Edit_crop_480x480.jpg

The seed was planted for Flourish Maternity when I was pregnant with my first child Bailey.  I was so eager to go shopping and create a lovely wardrobe to wear while carrying my precious bundle and for breastfeeding afterwards if all went to plan.  I was soon disappointed at the range that was available in New Zealand and the reality of how much this wonderful maternity and nursing wardrobe I had envisaged would have cost me.  From that day on I thought how nice it would be to supply affordable maternity and breastfeeding clothing that could make us mums feel great.

I have heard a lot of feedback from many mums about their wish for more affordable clothing and the sorts of clothes they would like to see.  This has helped me design my range.

Motherhood is this amazing journey from growing our little ones on the inside to watching them develop and flourish on the outside. My goal is to help mums feel great while on this amazing journey.

I would love to hear your feedback on our current clothing range and any designs you would like to see in the future.

Thank you for your support.

- PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION

Heart of Life

https://www.placenta.co.nz/

BOOK HERE: placenta.co.nz/book-in

Much scientific research has been carried out on the potential benefits of Placenta consumption by new mums, and papers written on the subject.

This evidence based research can be found by clicking this link : https://placentabenefits.info/scientific-research/

While the  benefits to individuals vary, mothers who have consumed their capsules have experienced all or some of the benefits listed below.

  • Replenished iron and vitamins that can become depleted during pregnancy.

  • Reduced 'baby blues'.

  • Increased energy to cope with the demands of a new baby.

  • Increased breast milk supply.

  • Reduced postpartum bleeding.

  • Increased shrinking back of the uterus.

  • Speeding up of postpartum recovery.

The placenta is a rich source of nutrients, hormones and other biochemical substances.

At around 6-8 weeks of pregnancy the placenta begins producing hormones to help sustain pregnancy. These hormonal levels continually increase during pregnancy, and by the third trimester there are 3 times the normal level of hormones in a pregnant woman's system.

These hormone levels drop significantly around day 4 postnatally; returning back to preconception levels quickly. This is a huge fluctuation going from 3 times the normal level to 'below normal' hormonal level, and this is where the balancing properties of the placenta come into play.  By consuming your placenta, you are essentially putting back into your body those wonderful nutrients and hormones as listed below:

  • Gonadotrophin - is the precursor to estrogen, progesterone and testosterone

  • Prolactin - is the hormone involved in stimulating milk production, enhances maternal instinct

  • Oxytocin - is the hormone of love, bonding, protection; promotes feelings of love and maternal bonding between mother and baby; helps uterus to return to normal size whilst reducing post birth bleeding; decreases pain; counteracts the production of stress hormones such as cortisol; enhances the breastfeeding let-down reflex

  • Prostaglandins - these anti-inflammatory hormones regulate the uterine contractions after birth and helps uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size

  • Placental Opioid-Enhancing Factor (POEF) - this stimulates the production of your body’s natural opioids, including endorphins; reduces pain; increases well being

  • Interferon and Gammaglobulin - both stimulate the immune system to protect against infection

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone - regulates the thyroid gland, boosting and balancing metabolism and energy levels

  • Cortisone - combats stress and unlocks energy stores in body

  • Iron - replenishes maternal iron stores to help combat anemia or postnatal iron deficiency; decreases fatigue and depression

  • Haemoglobin - the oxygen carrying molecule vital to energy in the body, clarity in the mind; supportive to the immune system

  • Human Placental Lactogen (hPL) - has lactogenic and growth-promoting properties; promotes mammary gland growth in preparation for breastfeeding; also regulates maternal glucose, protein and fat levels

  • Urokinase Inhibiting Factor & Factor XIII - helps reduce bleeding and enhances wound healing

V on Wheels

V on Wheels is New Zealand’s first vegan meal delivery service

210102477_1647684018761035_7783023616549903563_n.jpeg

Hola! I'm Mila, an Argentinean who accidentally created a business in a friend's kitchen back in 2016.

Although I grew up cooking with my mother and grandmother, my skills are largely self-taught. Before launching V on Wheels (originally named ‘On 2 Wheels’, as I used to deliver everything on my bike!) I spent years taking cooking lessons around the world, working in commercial kitchens, and experimenting with crazy recipes.

My love for cooking doesn’t end in the kitchen, though. It extends to the relationship with our health.

Our body knows what it needs, but sometimes we struggle to tune in and listen. This is why I created V on Wheels: to make it easy for people just like you to get through your busy week knowing your health is taken care of.

As much as I love to educate, I’m definitely not a preacher. I’m simply here to help you explore your options and live a more vibrant, adventurous, compassionate life - for the sake of the animals, the planet, and most importantly, for your own physical and mental wellbeing.
